The movie tells the story of rock singer “Pink” who is sitting in his hotel room in Los Angeles, burnt out from the music business and only able to perform on stage with the help of drugs. Based on the 1979 double album “The Wall” by Pink Floyd, the film begins in Pink’s youth where he is crushed by the love of his mother. Several years later he is punished by the teachers in school because he is starting to write poems. Slowly he begins to build a wall around himself to be protected from the world outside. The film shows all this in massive and epic pictures until the very end where he tears down the wall and breaks free.

Film Review

I remember years ago, the time that in my country the only magazine that could be called a 'cinema" magazine described the film like one of the ten absolutely terrible rock movies. Then I stopped reading this magazine. Alan Parker's film is going straight to the heart and also straight to the living hell inside people minds. It's a superb work that spoke with images and lyrics. It's the revolutionary film of the ugly decade of 80's. At the same time it's a poetic and strongly deep film with a touch of humanity. Waters and Parker attack with powerful elements to the English way of thinking at the period. We are bricks. If we don't break our personal wall we will remain bricks. We are human creatures when we try to break the Wall. The animation scenes are more than art and the messages of the film give to the audience the opportunity to think. Anti- War, Anti- Nazi, deep sensitive film and a rock star with the name Pink. The real name of him is Mr…

Maybe Roger Waters doesn't but he has millions of dollars (pounds) to cover for his inadequacies. Maybe it's ironic that this "high-school dropout turned rock-star", while deriding education, still wants to educate his naive following to his own agenda. Maybe it's just hypocrisy. But it's not his fault! Nobody forces people to buy Pink Floyd's albums and subscribe to the school of thought that promotes blaming others for your problems. "The Wall" is the epitome of that school. "The Wall" the album, a collection of boring burlesque and pop numbers, is all about blaming others. Blame your parents, blame the school, blame your peers, blame the drugs, blame the government. Waters tries to steer you clear of all the responsibility."The Wall" the movie is also about blaming others, but it is about bad acting, bad cinematography and bad direction as well. It's mostly about cheap symbolism (regarding totalitarianism), plainl…

Pink Floyd as a band has withstood the test of time.30 years after The Wall, it's still a large influence on music in general, and a land mark out there.A concept album is like a book. When a book is made into a movie, the movie usually dictates the point of view they WANT you to see it from. Same story goes here with The Wall.Going by the movie, everything you may have thought was correct about The Wall must have been wrong since they had to sell out and couldn't make enough money without a multi-platinum album. The biggest one comes with drugs. The movie makes out the main character as if he's a junkie, while the album had nothing to do with drugs up until Comfortably Numb. That's a joke here. The other largest plot hole that is reversed in the album is "Young Lust" according to the album I'm pretty sure that he found out his wife was cheating on him, BEFORE he started sleeping around. In the movie it's the other way around. If you're a re…
